Penelope (2006)

 Penelope (2006)

http://imdb.com/title/tt0472160/

Another saturday evening spent in cinema. But this time with a comedy/drama from an uknown director Mark Palansky. I liked this movie. It’s not boring, it’s not stupid, maybe a little bit long in the middle but overall it’s a very nice fantasy story without blood, goblins, killers and superheroes (I’m tired of this s…t already). Christina Ricci is adorable even with his pig nose. But afterwards - even better. Plays well. We really believe that she has a royal blood. But I didn’t like a lot James McAvoy. I didn’t believe he was in love with Penelope. Maybe just liked her but not so much. And there is not enough music for such kind of movie. I really missed a composition like “The baffled king composing halelluja…” from Shrek. I’d give “Penelope” 8/10 points.

Stranger Than Fiction (2006)

Stranger Than Fiction

http://imdb.com/title/tt0420223/

Saw this movie recently. My god! Am I really so sentimental? I was crying at the end like a starving mouse under the rain in the centre of a big city late at night. But thanks god I was watching this movie absolutely alone - no one saw me. I don’t know why I loved this movie but it really impressed me with its direction, acting and scenario. The director did a great job slowly untwisting the whole story infront of us: very slow movements at the beginnning of a very slow and boring life of Harold Crick, than “click” - something happened and we’re already not sleeping but starting to watch with an interest - the movements became faster and than we’re starting to cry at the end because our hearts can’t deny the fact that we all fell in love with the man behind the main character - he did a great job in choosing his own fate and breaking all principles he was building 12 years. The last phrases of the writer Karen Eifel forces us to think about this man and his deeds again and understand that she was absolutely right about choosing the end for her story. 10 out of 10 points!!!

8-year Wedding Anniversary

Today we’re celebrating 8-year Wedding Anniversary! That’s cool! We’ve been living together 8 years already! Didn’t think it would go so far. :) Of course, we had some problems, we had really big quarrels (with tears and thoughts about divorce), we had problems with my parents, with wife’s, we had problems with our baby, with apartments (we rented one for 3 years because we had problems with my mom), but right now we’re looking into those problems only with a smile. Right now I don’t understand how to live without my wife. As well as she doesn’t know the answer to this question. We believe and trust each other 100%. No, 101%. ;) We think the same way, we live the same, we feel each other even if 300 km separate us. And we have a very beautiful daughter. ;) I think we’re happy. :)

Btw, in russian we’re celebrating a “Tin Wedding”. :) By russian customs nearly every wedding has it’s own name. E.g. 2 years - “Paper Wedding”:) , 5 years - “Wood Wedding”, 15 - “Crystal Wedding”, 25 - “Silver Wedding”, 50 - “Gold Wedding” and the last one - 75 years - “Crown Wedding”. I think whether there are couples who can live longer. Because women kill faster. Haha! :)))

A car from the childhood

A car from the childhood

Jesus! I have found the photo of this car somewhere on LJ. And I remembered everything immediately! I spent a lot of happy hours playing with this “gadget”! Though we all in exUSSR didn’t know that word at all. :) But that thing was fantastic! There are buttos on the control panel atop where one could code the movements of the car. For example, up+25+left+60+up+40 would move the car forward 25 cm, then turn it to the left to 60 degrees, the move forwards 40 cm. There were a lot of possibilites! There were even a button “pause” (the car would stand still for some time). We created a plethora of barricades with soldiers toys imitatinf the war and coded this car to move through the barricades, kill the soldiers and return to base. :) It was a very happy time! Until my mom bought me the Dendy console. But that’s another story. :)
